The US Third Fleet is part of the US Pacific Fleet and was under the command of Admiral William F. "Bull" Halsey. The Third Fleet was activated on March 15, 1943 and participated in campaigns from the Solomon Islands, the Philippines, Formosa (Taiwan), Okinawa, the Ryukyu Islands, and the Japanese Home Islands. The fleets first flagship was USS New Jersey (BB-62) and ended with the USS Missouri (BB-63).
