The Florida-class of battleships was a series of two battleships created by the United States Navy before World War I. The first battleship class to have steam turbine engines, these two vessels saw combat in World War I and were retired shortly before American involvement in World War II. Significantly, USS Utah, a battleship of the series, was sunk during the attack on Pearl Harbor but suffered little to no casualties due to its being a target ship for American bombers.
