Tokyo

Located on the plain of Honshu,^[1] Tokyo is the capital city of Japan. It served as headquarters for the Imperial Government at the time and was constantly bombed by the Allies toward the end of the war.

History[]

On 18 April 1942, Tokyo was among the targets bombed by a force of b-25 bombers, launched fron the carrier USS Hornet, and commanded by Lieutenant Colonel James H. Doolittle. Intended to boost US morale after the Bombing of Pearl Harbor, the attack subsequently became known as the Doolittle Raid.^{[N 1]}
