Radom pistol

The Radom pistol with it's holster and magazine.

The Radom wz. 35 Vis was a pistol manufactured and used by Poland. It was also used by Germany during World War II.

Description[]

The Vis pistol's design was based on that of the American Colt M1911 pistol. It was 205 mm long and weighed 1.1 kilograms when loaded and 950 grams when unloaded. It fired the 9 x 19 mm Parabellum cartridge a distance of approximately 70 yards at a speed of around 345 meters (1,131.6 feet) per second. It had a steel slide magazine clip capable of holding eight rounds. It used a short recoil system enabling it to fire 24 rounds (three magazines) in rapid succession.

History[]

The Vis pistol was first manufactured under license by Lucznik Arms Factory, but later was directly made by Radom. After the German invasion of 1939, the Vis pistol entered service with the German Fallschirmjager and the Feldgendarmerie, and was designated Pistole 645(p) by the German military. Over 400,000 Vis pistols were manufactured for the Polish military, more than half of which saw service with the German armed forces until 1945.
