Newport News Shipbuilding is a shipyard in Newport News, Virginia. One of the largest in the United States, it was started in 1886 and has built a variety of both civilian and military ships.[1] Newport News produced a large amount of ships used by the US Navy during World War II, including aircraft carriers, battleships, cruisers, destroyers, and cargo ships. USS Enterprise, the most decorated American warship of the war, was constructed at this shipyard.
