The Iron Cross (Officially named "Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross") was the highest award in Nazi Germany and was used to honor a person's bravery or outstanding leadership. The Iron Cross dates back to the Empire of Prussia, and was absent during the Weimar Republic.
Nazi Germany re-established the Iron Cross in 1939, but with a Black, White, and Red ribbon and Hakenkreuz in the middle.
