The Büssing-NAG G31 Lastkraftwagen, or Kfz 61, was a 6 x 4 heavy truck used by Germany prior to and during World War II.

Description[]

The G31 was powered by a 65 hp, 4-cylinder Büssing-NAG G 3920cc petrol engine, and had a top speed of 60 km/h. The G31 required a crew of only one driver, and could carry multiple passengers in the cab and on the load bed. It measured 5.35 meters long, 2.25 meters wide, and 2.35 meters high, and weighed 1,500 kilograms. The maximum range of the G31 was 200 kilometers. It had a leaf spring suspension and six wheels, the rear four being the drive wheels.[1]

History[]

The G31 was manufactured by Büssing-NAG between 1931 and 1935. Even though production ended four years before the start of World War II in favor of the Opel Blitz T3.6S, many of these vehicles remained in service with the Wehrmacht as transport trucks for supplies and troops. Like many other trucks used by Germany, the G31 suffered in the harsh conditions of the Eastern Front. Some 2,300 G31s were manufactured between 1931 and 1935.[1]
